IIAS Merchant Partners
Effective January 1, 2008, the Benny® will be even more convenient as you will be able to purchase over–the–counter items at designated merchants that have established an inventory system capable of identifying FSA–eligible items at checkout.
New IRS rules allow for this; however, each pharmacy, discount store and supermarket must implement an automated system that can distinguish eligible and ineligible purchases. So far, local merchants with this capability include Longs Drugs, Walgreens, Wal–Mart, Sam's Club and Safeway.
If a store has not implemented this validation process, it will not be able to accept the Card for any purchases. You will still be able to be reimbursed for expenses at these locations by going through the manual claims process.
You can continue to use the Card at free–standing pharmacies and health care providers such as hospitals, doctors, dentist, etc.
Below is the current list of pharmacies, discount stores and supermarkets that have agreed to be publicly listed as planning to offer the Industry Standard version of identifying FSA–eligible items at checkout by 1/1/08.
